Below are the webinars that will be offered the rest of the year. The online sessions will provide broad information and guidance to LULAC advocates and community leaders like you.

Latinos Living Healthy in California

Thursday September 5 at 7pm ET/6pm CT/5pm MT/4pm PT

Please join us to discuss LULAC’s commitment to improving the health of Californians by improving access to healthy foods, safe places for physical exercise, and quality affordable health care. Health awareness leads to better choices and can prevent obesity related illnesses to improve the health of Latino communities. Panelists will share insight into the importance of healthy eating, exercising, and seeking preventative care in order to improve the health of our families and our communities.

In 2010, 24% of Californians were obese and by 2030, if the trend is not reversed, the number of obese people in California is expected to double to 46.6%. There is hope, however, as according to a study, if California residents could lower their body weights by an average of 5% California would prevent around 800,000 cases of diabetes and save more than $80 billion in health care costs.

We will also highlight LULAC’s upcoming health festival which will reach families from the Los Angeles area with resources and information to encourage healthy living. The Feria de Salud will bring Latino community members, health professionals, major corporations, leading sports icons, and key community leaders together to underscore the importance of incorporating health nutrition and fitness into the everyday lives of Latino families.
