LULAC National Internships

General Information:

Looking for a meaningful way to serve the Latino community? The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the nation's oldest and largest Latino grassroots civil rights organization, seeks talented and passionate interns to join us at the LULAC National Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Established in 1929, the League of United Latin American Citizens stands as the oldest and largest Latino civil rights organization in the U.S. With nearly 140,000 members spanning all 50 states and several U.S. territories, LULAC addresses a diverse array of issues including health, technology, education, immigration, civic engagement, and broadband expansion. Our extensive network comprises over 535 LULAC councils across the nation, actively involved at every level of government.

In collaboration with the LULAC National staff, interns can combine their academic interests with real-world experience in any of the following areas: youth programs, education programs, policy and legislation, health programs, communications, special events, resource development, immigration reform, LGBT advocacy, community mobilization, civic engagement, and federal relations. Internship profiles for the current open positions can be found below to the right.

Please note that since these are unpaid internships, students will be required to secure either academic credit from their institution and/or an outside stipend.

Expectations:

Applicants are required to have excellent academic records and strong writing and communication skills. Thorough knowledge of LULAC's mission, history, and milestones is expected; knowledge of the Latino community and current issues is required. Applicants should also have a deep sense of commitment to advancing the rights of Latinas and Latinos. Finally, the ability to write and speak Spanish (not required) and English fluently is highly desirable; as is extensive experience with using computer software.

Interns are expected to commit at least 24 hours per week for 8-10 weeks, with the possibility of extending the internship. Flexible scheduling is allowed. This position is in-person at the LULAC National Office, located at 1776 I Street NW, Washington, D.C. Remote work opportunities are limited and require prior approval from both the supervisor and the intern.
