ACT NOW: We need your help now to convince leadership in the House of Representatives to take up the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA)! Click here to contact your member of Congress!

November 15th marks the 75th anniversary of the Fair Labor Standards Act. This law has done much to improve work conditions in our country. However, the spirit of this law has not yet been fully realized, as millions of workers across the country are still vulnerable to discrimination in the workplace.

In a historic vote, the Senate passed this landmark legislation that protects workers from discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity. However, despite a high level of support in the House, certain members led by Speaker John Boehner have vowed not to let this crucial legislation be taken up for vote in the house. This issue is of particular importance to the Latino community, as LGBT Latinos report higher levels of workplace discrimination than non-Latino LGBT persons; this is particularly true of transgender Latinos. LULAC has also taken a stance in support of ENDA, passing a resolution in the National Convention and Exposition in 2009. (Click here to read the resolution.)

ENDA also enjoys a high level of support. Nearly 80 percent of all Americans support this legislation, including 70 percent of Republicans.

ACT NOW: Please do not let a small group of Members in the House block legislation that is supported both by the public and our representatives. Click here to contact your member of Congress!
