LULAC and Google Launch Initiative Offering Digital Skills Workshops in Spanish

Ponce, Puerto Rico - On Friday, November 22, 2019, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and Grow with Google team will host “Reach Customers Online with Google,” the workshop will be led by bilingual trainer Sixica Devine at the Women’s Regional Conference in Ponce, Puerto Rico. As part of the Grow with Google initiative to create economic opportunities, the training for young adults and women in Ponce are part of a series of events taking place in LULAC Tech Centers in Puerto Rico and the United States..

“LULAC is proud to partner with Google to provide professional development and help advance economic opportunities for the over 41 million Spanish speakers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico,” stated Elsie Valdez, National Vice President for Women. “We are thrilled to offer these workshops and resources to empower all participants and their communities, and help them thrive in their careers and grow professionally. This effort honors LULAC’s mission to advance the economic conditions for the Latino population including here in our island nation,” she added.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect directly with key community leaders and LULAC representatives throughout and after the workshop.

“ Since launching Grow with Google in 2017, we’ve trained more than three million people on digital skills,” said Tia Bethea, Community Engagement Manager at Google. “We’re thrilled to work with LULAC and now share these resources in Spanish and English”.

Grow with Google launched its IT Support Certificate, Applied Digital skills and Primer in Spanish in the U.S. as a continuation of Google’s Commitment to support training programs for the Latino community, including Google.org’s recent announcement of $5M to support CS education for Latino students.
