LULAC National Internships

General Information:

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to serve the Latino community, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) may be the place for you. LULAC is the nation’s oldest and largest Latino grassroots civil rights organization, and we’re looking for talented and driven interns to join us at our national headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Founded in 1929, the League of United Latin American Citizens has grown into the country’s largest Latino civil rights organization, representing more than 570,000 members across all 50 states and several U.S. territories. With a network of more than 425 councils, we work on issues that shape everyday life, from health and education to immigration, civic engagement, technology, and broadband access.

Interns work alongside national staff and have the chance to connect their academic interests with real world experience. Opportunities include youth and education programs, health initiatives, policy and legislative work, communications, special events, resource development, immigration reform, LGBTQ+ advocacy, community mobilization, civic engagement, and federal relations. Current internship profiles are available below.

Expectations:

Applicants should have a strong academic record along with excellent writing and communication skills. A solid understanding of LULAC’s mission, history, and impact is expected, and knowledge of the Latino community and current issues is required. Candidates should demonstrate a deep commitment to advancing the rights of Latinas and Latinos. Fluency in English is essential, and the ability to speak and write in Spanish is highly desirable. Proficiency with common computer software is also important.

Interns are expected to commit at least 30 hours per week for 10 to 16 weeks, with the possibility of extending the internship. Scheduling is flexible. This position is in person at the LULAC National Office at 1150 18th Street NW in Washington, D.C. Remote work is limited and requires approval from both the supervisor and the intern.
