Art Motta

Art Motta is currently serves as LULAC’s national policy director where he drives the strategic policy agenda and advocates initiatives to achieve LULAC’s policy goals at the local, state and federal level. Art brings substantial congressional and Capitol Hill experience to LULAC. This includes his work as a congressional staffer on Capitol Hill and previously amplifying the student voice at the local, state, and national levels by mobilizing grassroots power to win concrete victories on student issues with the University of California Student Association (UCSA) and the United States Student Association (USSA).

Most recently, Art served as policy adviser for a Congressman Eric Swalwell where he managed a vast domestic and social policy portfolio of legislative issues including agriculture & nutrition, appropriations, economic & entrepreneurial development, education & workforce development, immigration, intelligence, science & technology, among others. Additionally, Art worked to diversify and grow the ranks of Latino staffers and LGBT staffers in the halls of Congress to create a more inclusive work environment through his participation, leadership, and mentorship in the Congressional Hispanic Staff Association, the LGBT Congressional Staff Association and the Congressional Clean Energy & Technology Staff Association.

Art is native of Orange County, California, and earned degrees from the University of California, Santa Cruz in Politics and Latin American & Latino Studies. In his free time, Art enjoys exploring the local dining scene when not hiking through Rock Creek Park, visiting local museums or walking to the nearest taqueria.
