Gabriel Acevero
Delegate Gabriel Acevero represents Maryland’s 39th house district since 2018, when he became the first openly queer Afro-Latino and one of the youngest people elected to the General Assembly. An organizer by trade, Acevero was instrumental in the passage of marriage equality (Question 6), the Dream Act (Question 4) and transgender equality in Maryland in 2012 and 2014 respectively. He’s a leading voice in the legislature on police accountability, juvenile justice, immigrants rights and LGBTQ equality and was named by the Advocate magazine as one of its "50 Champions of Pride". Acevero recently won his re-election primary and currently serves on the Board of both the Legislative Latino Caucus and LGBTQ Caucus.
