Washington, D.C.—LULAC Executive Director Brent Wilkes issued the following statement regarding the confirmation of Sarah Saldaña as Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
"LULAC supports the confirmation of Sarah Saldaña as Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. We are confident that Saldaña's years of experience as the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas will ensure that our immigration laws are enforced with effectiveness. We applaud Saldaña for being a trailblazer by becoming the first Latina to direct the $6 billion federal agency. LULAC will work with Sarah Saldaña to ensure that the immigrant community is treated with compassion and humanness."
