3. When connected, introduce yourself and tell them you are calling to urge the Member to vote against any amendments to HR 240 which seek to undo President Obama’s Administrative action

“Hello, my name is _______________. I am calling to urge Representative ____________ to oppose any amendments to HR 240 - the Department of Homeland Security Appropriation Bill for Fiscal Year 2016- that aim to undo, defund, or undermine President Obama’s immigration actions.

In particular, I urge the member to:

  • VOTE NO on the Aderholt Amendment: This amendment would prohibit funds or fees to be used for DAPA. It would also undo the majority of the President’s executive orders and DHS memoranda calling for enforcement priorities.
  • VOTE NO on the Blackburn Amendment: This amendment would eliminate DACA, prohibits renewals and new adjudications, putting all DREAMers at risk for deportation.
  • VOTE NO on the DeSantis Amendment: This amendment would prevent ICE from setting enforcement priorities and could result in the deportation of victims of domestic violence.
  • VOTE NO on the Salmon Amendment: This amendment expresses the sense of Congress that the Administration should not grant deferred action and work permits to DREAMers due to ACA restrictions.
  • VOTE NO on the Schock Amendment: This amendment expresses the sense of Congress that USCIS should process other categories of the legal immigration system over “unlawfully present aliens.”
Thank you for your attention. Again, please tell Representative ______ to oppose these amendments and any others seeking to undo, undermine, or defund President Obama’s administrative actions.”
