LULAC Condemns Trump Ending His Presidency At Wall Of Shame
Nation’s Oldest and Largest Latino Civil Rights Organization Says a Return to Border Wall Affirms the Worst Traits of His Failure
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) has issued the following statement ahead of one of President Trump’s final acts in office. On Tuesday, Trump plans to return to the U.S.-Mexico border, the site he first visited in July, 2015, to celebrate what the Administration calls one of his greatest achievements.

“LULAC strongly condemns President Trump using the border as his final backdrop this week to end his failed administration by again stirring racial hatred and xenophobia with his lies. Hasn’t he done enough harm already during these past six years targeting innocent, hardworking, law abiding immigrants? He now wants to gloat one last time about hundreds of miles of border wall built at the expense of American taxpayers, including the very Latinos he called criminals, rapists and drug traffickers. This political theatre shows his worst traits of constantly dividing America with his showboating and spreading dangerous misinformation that leads to acts of violence, death and destruction like what our nation just witnessed in Washington, DC this past week. Congress needs to take immediate action to remove this man from office. We can no longer afford this deranged behavior at the risk of triggering still more acts of lawlessness by armed insurrectionists waiting to hear his dog whistles. LULAC warns any more blood spilled will also be on the hands of those who fail to act.”
