Nation's Oldest and Largest Latino Civil Rights Organization Urges All Americans to Remember We Must Be Vigilant In Protecting the Privileges and Blessings of our Democracy

Washington, DC - The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) joins the nation in celebrating Independence Day, a time to reflect on the freedoms and liberties that define the United States of America. Let us honor our forefathers' actions in 1776 when they declared independence from a king and established our great republic, rejecting the notion of monarchy. They built our democracy on the ideals of freedom so we could govern ourselves from that day forward.

"On this July 4th, LULAC pauses to celebrate with all Americans how blessed we are to live in the USA," says Roman Palomares, LULAC National President. "The Latino community has always risen in defense and support of our Constitution and our Republic. As we celebrate this holiday with our families and friends, let us remember those who answered the call to fight for our freedoms and the realization of a more perfect union that includes the diverse nation we have become. This includes our deported veterans," adds Palomares.

This July 4th, we honor our nation's legacy by reaffirming our commitment to justice, equality, and the promise of a better future for all. We can all realize that promise by participating in the great democratic experiment that began 250 years ago and affirms our place in America.
