Giving Students Every Tool They Need to Stand Out and Get Hired.
Washington DC and Los Angeles, April 6, 2010 – The League of United Latin American Citizens, the largest and oldest Latino civil rights and advocacy group in the United States, and Internships.com of Los Angeles today announced a partnership building a bridge between students and businesses to ensure that Latino young adults are getting the hired education and access they need for next generation jobs.
“Latino young adults are in a position to contribute to America’s economy in a very significant way, and with this partnership we are making sure that students have access to the training and opportunities that will help them succeed,” said LULAC National President Rosa Rosales. “This partnership will bring together students who want internships and business leaders from the community who know how important it is to give students the opportunity for experiential learning.”
Internships.com provides a robust toolkit of internship-specific resources that will help students every step of the way as they begin the process of preparing for and searching for an internship; the site even has tips for what a student can expect on the job. Internships.com’s career counselors have created tools like the Internship PredictorTM, QuickBuild ResumeTM, and LULAC Intern Certification Program to give students every advantage they need when it comes to internships.
“LULAC has been opening the door to opportunities for Latinos for more than 80 years, and now we are making sure the platform is in place for businesses and students to connect in a way that will have a really big impact on the workforce of tomorrow,” said Robin Richards, CEO of Internships.com. “Together with LULAC we are democratizing the opportunity for all students to get their foot in the door to the career world.”
In addition to the many resources for students, Internships.com also has a groundbreaking turnkey employer toolkit. Historically, one of the roadblocks to implementing or expanding an internship program has been the lack of understanding on the part of companies about how to find quality interns and what goes into making a great internship experience for both the student and the company. Internships.com’s employer toolkit has articles, videos, and blogs created by experts to educate employers on how to implement a top-notch program.
“I really like that Internships.com was built specifically for internships, and everything on the site is focused on success for students and businesses with internship programs,” said, Miguel J. Zazueta, a Founding Intern of LULAC and Internships.com. “For example, the interview tips are specific for internships, and content is presented in a way that appeals to me as a student.”
As LULAC’s official internship partner, Internships.com will work closely with LULAC to ensure that students get the experience that will help them stand out and be hired as interns by organizations with a vested interest in the workforce of tomorrow.
Internships.com serves as the leading nexus between internships and students, higher education and employers. At Internships.com we develop world-class tools and services to enable every student, employer and educator to better understand and optimize the work opportunities of the future.
