Mentor Questionnaire

WELCOME TO THE MENTOR APPLICATION FOR THE LEADERS MENTORING PROGRAM

The Federal Training Institute (FTI/Institute) an educational division of the League of United Latin American Citizens, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, has a long-standing public service goal and tradition of partnering with Federal agencies to offer pro bono leadership training and development opportunities for up and coming public service leaders.

As a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) Corp you play a key role shaping public policy and effectively leading highly complex programs and organizations. The Institute cordially invites you to serve as a mentor and/or a member of a selection panel for our new mentoring program entitled the Leaders Mentoring Program (LMP), for aspiring General Schedule (GS) employees in grades 14 or 15 interested in the SES Corp.

The LMP is six-month competitive pilot program that will run from September 2016 – March 2017. It is designed to provide one-on-one leadership mentoring for up to 25 participants selected for participation in the pilot. Candidates for the program will be screened and interviewed to ensure understanding of their role and responsibilities by a selection board composed of former or current volunteer senior executives. You can review the mentee application information at lulac.org/fti/mentee to learn more about mentee applicant requirements.

As a mentor, you will typically spend two to four hours a month sharing knowledge and experiences and helping mentees improve their abilities and skills through observation, assessment, modeling, and by providing invaluable guidance. You will also share your knowledge and experience encompassing the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ) required for entry into the SES.

We encourage you to partner with us to further develop and shape our future public service leaders. Serving as a mentor or as a member of the selection board affords you a valuable opportunity to lead people and build coalitions outside of your respective agencies.

Please join this pilot effort in advancing aspiring GS-14 and GS-15 candidates and become a Mentor.

We ask that you provide us information of your interests and unique talents that will allow matching Mentees with Mentors by going to link below. As a Mentor you will have final approval in the partnership process, i.e. a partnership between a Mentor and Mentee.
