Background
The economic impact of COVID-19 is affecting Latino and immigrants disproportionately.

● 33% of Latino parents/primary caregivers have either seen their business shut down and/or have experienced significant drops in revenue.
● 1 in 3 Latino families have seen their businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19 is an inauspicious sign for the economic health of the small-business sector.
● 41% of Latino parents/primary caregivers report having trouble paying for their rent or mortgage.
● 52% of Latino parents/primary caregivers have had their work hours or their pay cut, but have kept their jobs.
● 16-million U.S. citizens or green card holders in mixed-status families have at least one member paying taxes using an ITIN and ineligible to receive any COVID-19 assistance.
● 11-million undocumented immigrants are living in the United States in 2020 fearful of seeking testing or treatment for COVID-19
● Latinos are America’s largest segment of essential workers: farmworkers - 85%, construction - 59%, food service - 53% and 40% of all industry sectors deemed essential in California alone.
