Memorandum from the National President

To        : All LULAC Councils
From    : Margaret Moran, LULAC National President
Date     : June 11, 2015
Subject: 2015 LULAC National Convention

I invite you to join us in Salt Lake City, UT for the 86th LULAC National Convention and Exposition. As members of the largest and oldest Hispanic organization in the country we gather every year to address the critical issues that impact our community and country. We are now just a month away from the 86th LULAC National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah and this convention is shaping up to be one of the best national conventions ever. We have confirmed some fantastic speakers and entertainers including Senator Orrin Hatch, Mayor of Salt Lake City Ralph Becker, Utah Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy, Social Security Administrator Carolyn Colvin, USCIS Director Leon Rodriguez, OPM Director Katherine Archuleta, U.S. Department of Education Deputy Secretary John King, Famed Film Director Robert Rodriguez, Financial Expert Julie Stav, Comcast Senior Executive Vice President David L. Cohen and Dr. Ricardo Rosello Nevares just to name a few. We also have a great line up of workshops and seminars that will inform you of the latest issues impacting the Latino community.

Our expo area will include hundreds of corporate exhibits, a federal plaza, a career fair, a health fair and a nearby cyber café. We are also including a ticket to the LULAC Concierto VOCES UNIDAS por America! featuring top acts Los Lonely Boys and Michael Salgado the evening of Thursday, July 9th with every full registration package. And don’t forget to dress up for the Friday night black tie Presidential Awards Banquet.

Enclosed are 5 proposed amendments to the LULAC Constitution for your council members to review. Also enclosed is the latest agenda, registration form, and delegation certification letter. We encourage all councils to register their delegates online in advance at www.lulac.org/reg and to submit their delegate credentials letters online at www.lulac.org/delegate in order to avoid lines at the onsite convention registration and certification area. I am excited to inform you that the LULAC National Board has voted to conduct the national election via electronic ballot to make our election process smoother and faster than ever this year.

Please note that the convention hotels are mostly oversold, but we have opened a new block at the brand new Holiday Inn Express Salt Lake City which is across the street from the convention center. Be sure to check www.lulac.org for the latest convention information.

Brothers and sisters of LULAC, this is one LULAC National convention that you will not want to miss. Please join me in Salt Lake City and participate in all of our exciting events. I look forward to seeing you there.
