Cinco de Mayo Volunteers
Dear Friends of LULAC,
On behalf of the League of United Latin American Citizens, a passionate network of community leaders and volunteers dedicated to empowering Latinos by advancing the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population, I invite you to participate as a volunteer at our Latinos Living Healthy Fiesta de Salud entitled, The National Cinco de Mayo Festival® ¡Salud en Cinco de Mayo! This event is taking place May 5th, 2012 at the Sylvan Theatre located at the foot of the Washington Monument in the National Mall from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.
LULAC’s first-ever Latinos Living Healthy Feria Familiar took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico and drew over 10,000 individuals. This year we are expecting 20,000 participants that will enjoy free health screenings, healthy food options, sports activities, entertainment, cultural dances, and an attempt to break the Zumba world record!
We are looking for dedicated volunteers who can support the staff at the event. The volunteer assignments will range from assisting people and conducting surveys to being in charge of VIP attendees. Assignments will be given out to volunteers, once registered to participate.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, we will be holding an informal meetings on April 18th , April 25th, and May 2nd at 6:30pm in the LULAC office, 1133 19th St. NW, Suite 1000, Washington, DC 20036. If you are not able to attend this meeting, you are still able to volunteer. We will be having a number of meetings as we get closer to the date.
