Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program (BEAD)


Follow these steps:
Step 1
- To be familiarized with areas that do not have Broadband services
- Go to My Congressional District website
- Select your state and district
- See the distribution of broadband service

Step 2
- Visit the NTIA Census Website
a) Search City or County
b) Make sure to check the first three layers
- Covered Population
- Population lacking fixed broadband
- Population lacking computer or broadband

Step 3
- Review volumes 1 and 2 or DEI plan
- Commit to submitting public comments
- Submit public comments on the website
- Keep in mind that BEAD-mandated properties in order of importance are:
- Reach underserved areas, lacking 25/3 internet speeds
- Reach underserved areas, lacking 100/20 internet speeds
- Programs that supplement deployment (workforce development)*
- Connecting Community Anchor and support Broadband Adoption Programs*
- Other Non-Deployments Uses.*

Step 4
- Submit the BEAD Scorecard after reviewing the appropriate document.
