University of California, Santa Barbara

Sharon Rayburn serves as a Policy & Legislative Fellow at LULAC’s Headquarters in Washington, DC. She is from Hanford, located in California’s Central Valley. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara and will receive her degree in Sociology with a minor in Translational Studies. In her time at UCSB, she has worked for Campus Dining while also serving on the board of the Latinx cultural organization, Hermanas Unidas, for the past two years. There she coordinated the high school outreach program, M.E.N.T.O.R., that informed students about higher education through informational workshops. She also planned events that connected the general body to the surrounding community and served as a liaison for the general body to connect to the campus's other organizations and resources. She is passionate about issues that involve education, women's rights, and equity, especially when they pertain to her communities. As a proud Mexican-American and first-generation student, she hopes to continue to be an advocate and resource for her community through her position on the Policy and Legislative team.
