Shanel Moya Aguero serves as a Research and Policy Fellow at LULAC’s National Office in Washington, D.C. in early 2026. Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she is an honors student in the Burnett Honors College at the University of Central Florida, where she studies Legal Studies with a minor in Political Science. She has been an active leader on campus through Student Government, Moot Court, CREAR Futuros, and undergraduate research, building practical experience in policy analysis, advocacy, and public service. At LULAC, she has worked on addressing federal regulations and tracking key legislation related to immigrant protection, civil rights rollbacks, and employment protections. Shaped by her own experience navigating the U.S. immigration system, she plans to pursue a career in law focused on advocacy and civil rights.
