Matthew Morris is serving as a Policy & Legislation Fellow at the League of United Latin American Citizens National office in Washington, D.C and is ecstatic for the opportunity to be able to gain skills in a professional setting that align with his own beliefs. He is currently working towards finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Originally from Fontana, California, he has spent his time gaining experience in the public sector and striving to educate his local community on issues pertinent to their day-to-day lives. With previous experience in policy advocacy for Environment California, he has demonstrated his interest in working on social issues with special attention to the communities he has close experiences with. During his time at Environment California, he successfully canvassed Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay County on issues regarding the expansion of state protected beaches within the area. He went door-to-door having conversations with over 700 different individuals regarding the passage of this legislation and was successful at creating connections, educating the community, and raising funds to ensure that the message was made clear. He is passionate about education, international relations, and immigration policy. Matthew Morris is steadfast in his desire to continue his education and be involved with policy creation. After his time in LULAC, he hopes to continue his work in the federal government as a public servant.
