Maricela Alvarez

Triple Major: Political Science, Sociology, & Economics Minor: Accounting, Data Science

Maricela Alvarez is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Sociology, and Economics with a minor in Accounting. She graduated high school with a 4.3 GPA while simultaneously earning four associate degrees through a dual-enrollment program for low-income students. At UCLA, she began as a junior, taking upper-division courses for her triple majors and actively engaging in Latino organizations like Pre-Law Hispanic Society, Hermanas Unidas, and LULAC. She was selected for the highly competitive Management Leadership for Tomorrow program, where she develops leadership and technical skills through business case studies and industry conferences. Maricela has worked in various customer service roles, currently overseeing mobile orders at Bruin Café, which serves over 1,000 students daily. In Spring 2025, she will intern at LULAC as a Research and Policy Fellow, focusing on the long-term impacts of warehouse expansions in Latino communities and the conditions of children in ICE detention centers. She hopes to use her experiences to empower her family and community, and in her free time, she enjoys movies, music, and spending time with loved ones.
