Originally from Los Angeles, Joaquin is a rising senior at the University of Notre Dame, double majoring in Political Science and Latino Studies with a minor in Business Economics. At Notre Dame, he is heavily involved with the university’s band program as the Bass (Tuba) Section Leader across the marching, concert, and basketball/hockey pep bands. He is also a career development mentor for the College of Arts & Letters. While his academic focus is on American Politics, specifically immigration and civil rights law, he has a broad interest in all forms of policy research and implementation. Joaquin is passionate about serving others and plans to take a gap year after graduating from Notre Dame before attending law school. As a Policy and Legislation Fellow at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Joaquin has addressed a range of issues affecting Latinos, including housing affordability, climate change, and civic engagement.
