Valentina Machado Sejas serves as a Policy and Legislation Fellow at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) at their Headquarters in Washington, DC. Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, she is a first-generation college student at Colgate University. She is currently a junior with a deep interest in Politics and a strong desire to make a positive impact within the Latinx community. These two factors have not only driven her to pursue a double major in Political Science and Spanish but have also played a significant role in shaping the person she is today. One of the guiding principles she lives by is “Ayni,” a Quechua word that translates to “today for you, tomorrow for me.” This Andean concept highlights the importance of community support and unity, values that profoundly influence her dedication to advocacy and helping others. She believes that every individual has a story to tell and has participated in various off-campus study opportunities, such as going to Namibia to learn more about the Herero and Nama Genocide, Spain, to further her Spanish skills, and Washington, D.C. After graduating college, she hopes to further her career by applying to law school and continuing to advocate for disadvantaged and underserved communities.
