Tsheisha Leavitt serves as a Research & Policy Fellow at LULAC's National office in Washington, D.C. She is a Nicaraguan first-generation college student majoring in Deaf Studies at California State University, Northridge. At LULAC she hopes to learn more about the procedures and actions it takes to successfully develop policies that encourage success and opportunity in under-represented communities. Upon returning from her internship at LULAC, she will begin working on research regarding the mass incarceration of Black and Latino Deaf communities, and the lack of legal and language services for these communities. She will continue her education by pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work and hopes to continue her education into law. She is quiet, observant, but also super friendly and always willing to help.
