Jimena González Rodríguez

Sociology

Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (Mexico)

Jimena Gonzalez Rodriguez is a Research and Policy Fellow at the LULAC National Office in Washington, D.C. in the fall of 2025. She comes to LULAC via the U.S.-Mexico Leaders Initiative Fellowship Program of the U.S.-Mexico Foundation, which strengthens ties between Mexico and the United States. A final-year Sociology student at the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, she has previously worked as a research intern at the SECIHTI Research Center at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, contributing to national and binational projects on migration, gender policy, and regional development. Growing up in Ciudad Juárez, Jimena witnessed firsthand the complex realities of migration and the lasting impact of violence that marked her city during the 2008–2012 drug war, experiences that shaped her commitment to advocacy and progressive movements focused on urban rights and social change. She now aims to pursue a master’s degree in sustainable and regional development, with the goal of deepening her understanding of social contexts and advancing strategies that create meaningful impact for her community.
