Jahari Garcia is currently a Policy and Legislation Fellow for the League of Latin American Citizens at their National Headquarters in Washington, DC. She is grateful for the opportunity to be able to learn and grow from LULAC’s talented team. Jahari is a Mexican American from the Fresno, California area. Currently finishing her third year at the University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Global Environmental Justice and a minor in Politics. While at the University of California, Santa Cruz she participated in both the NCAA cross country and track and field programs. Jahari also worked for Barrios Unidos, Santa Cruz within the Prison Project. Here she was able to work on connecting currently incarcerated and reintegrating citizens with vital cultural, social and economic resources to promote their success. In the future Jahari aspires to continue her work in political advocacy within the Senate.
