Andrea Hernandez Gomez is a Research and Policy Fellow at LULAC’s Washington D.C. office. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, she is a third-year student at the University of Central Florida double majoring in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Health Services Administration. Andrea has dedicated her academic and professional journey to advancing education equity and healthcare access for underserved communities. At UCF, she mentors first-generation and Latino students through the Hispanic Federation’s CREAR Futuros program and is actively involved with the Refugee and Immigrant Education Club and the Office of Latino Student Success. She has also led outreach efforts to increase student access to scholarships, research opportunities, and academic support. Rooted in public and compassionate service, her work focuses on transforming community needs into policy initiatives that create lasting progress for underserved populations. Andrea ultimately hopes to combine her future career in medicine with policy advocacy to create systemic change at the intersection of healthcare, education, and human rights.
