International Relations and International Organizations

University of Groningen, Netherlands

Brunella Effio is currently working as a Policy and Research Fellow at LULAC’s Headquarters in Washington, DC. She is incredibly appreciative of the welcoming and warm environment the people at LULAC have provided her with. Being a young Peruvian woman, who through her formative years has lived both in Peru and Guatemala, she is excited to join the team at LULAC in creating meaningful change for Latino communities in the United States. She graduated Cum Laude from Colegio Maya: the American School of Guatemala whilst participating in multiple community service opportunities and educational volunteering programmes. Currently, she is a recent graduate of International Relations and International Organisation at University of Groningen in The Netherlands, and will continue pursuing a second bachelor in Philosophy of a Specific Discipline. This upcoming year she will work as the Secretary of the Board of Amnesty International Student Group Groningen, where she will proceed with her aspirations to raise awareness about human rights. Furthermore, she works for her University’s newspaper and has recently been elected as an ECHO Ambassador, working to promote cultural diversity and facilitate difficult discussions in her community. During her free time she likes music, reading, and quality time with her friends and family. The opportunity to work as a LULAC Fellow will allow her to further her passion for political change and policy reforms for the betterment of Latin American lives and communities.
