Camila Acosta Rondon serves as a Policy and legislation Fellow at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) at their national headquarters in Washington, DC. Born and raised in Venezuela, she is currently a senior at the University of California, Riverside, majoring in Economics and Administrative Studies with a concentration in Project Management. She feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work and grow at an organization like LULAC and expand her knowledge in policy, health policy, and immigration. Additionally, she feels honored to have the chance to represent her Latino community. She has an interest in health and hospital administration and holds a deep passion to help and uplift, in terms of improving the administration, accessibility, and affordable health systems for her Latino community.
During her time at UC Riverside, she has been involved in her campus by taking on different roles and positions. She became the founder of the new economics club, “The Highlander Economics Club,” and took the position of secretary. In addition, Camila has worked for over two years as an event assistant at the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) at UC Riverside. Camila also has a background of administration and caregiving experience by volunteering at Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center as an administrative intern and then as a care ambassador volunteer. Additionally, as a proud Venezuelan, she started a Venezuelan business, “Los Roques,” representing a Venezuelan island she loves, and uses this business to show part of her culture and develop entrepreneurship skills.
Her ultimate goal is to potentially find a way in the near future to make healthcare services more accessible and affordable for the Latino community and to improve the administration system of hospitals.
