University of California, Berkeley

Brittney Curiel Moreno serves as a Policy and Legislation Fellow at the League of United Latin American Citizens at their national headquarters in Washington, D.C. She feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to learn and grow with LULAC this summer, as well as represent her Latinx community in the realm of policy and legislation. She was born and raised in Long Beach, California to her two Mexican immigrant parents who came to the United States in search of a better life. The values instilled by her parents have played a pivotal role in the work she does and her passion about immigration and fighting for the human rights of the Latinx community.

Brittney is currently a fourth year student at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Sociology with a minor in Public Policy and Chicanx/Latinx Studies. At school, she serves as a Political Action and Community Development Fellow for the bridges Multicultural Resource Center and a Community Outreach Intern for the Raices Recruitment and Retention Center, where she assists BIPOC students with political organizing and recruitment efforts. She also works as an Office Assistant for the UC Berkeley School of Law Admissions Office.

She aspires to one day pursue her Master’s in Latin American Studies and attend law school. She also hopes to one day become a congressional staffer and then a lobbyist for a non-profit organization specializing in the rights of the Latinx community.

When she is not studying or working, she really enjoys spending her free time shopping and trying new food places. Her favorite spot this summer is Arepazone!
