Ashley Lopez is a Spring Research and Policy Fellow at LULAC as part of Stanford in Washington. She is a first generation sophomore at Stanford University studying Political Science and Latino Studies. With a desire to pursue a career in immigration law, she dedicates her time to different pre-law and social justice-related organizations like Stanford Women in Politics, Stanford in Government, and Women and Youth Supporting Each Other. In the summer, she will continue her journey in immigration advocacy through a Cardinal Quarter Public Interest Law Fellowship at CHIRLA. Ashley hopes to learn the distinct impact of how policy changes affect the Latino community in the nation’s capital, where the laws are created, and gain a deeper understanding of the implementation of these policies in her hometown, Boyle Heights
