Political Science and Criminal Justice Minor: Pre-Law

Pacific Lutheran University

Areli Arauja Ruiz is a Policy & Legislation Fellow at LULAC's National Office in Washington, DC. She is a 19-year-old Mexican citizen who was raised in Washington state. Areli is a rising junior attending Pacific Luthern University, double majoring in political science and criminal justice with a minor in pre-law! She is a certified interpreter involved in the Pre-Law and Honors Society. She is an aspiring lawyer who eventually wants to become a congresswoman! As a first-generation student, Areli's ultimate inspiration is her mother. Who has not only supported her and her siblings but is her biggest hero! During her time in Washington, D.C., she hopes to learn more about the governance and legislation process firsthand. LULAC allows her to connect and network with individuals with similar values. She is passionate about immigration reformation and women's rights; when she is not in the office, she studies for the LSAT, tries new restaurants, goes hiking, hangs out with friends and family, and, lastly, is on the look for AOC, who is made it a mission to meet her during her time in D.C.
