LULAC Councils Call for Support of Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO)

LULAC District 18 supports the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), which prohibits discrimination against Houston's 2.2 million residents on the basis of sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, familial status, marital status, military status, religion, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity and pregnancy.

This week, the county prosecutor of Pasco, Washington refused to indict three officers in the tragic February shooting of unarmed Latino immigrant Antonio Zambrano-Montes. Zambrano-Montes was approached by police after throwing rocks at police officers and was later shot by police while fleeing the scene of the confrontation.
