According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), Senate Bill 744 would add significant economic benefits – silencing anti-immigration advocates who claim immigration reform would be a drain on the economy. Increases in federal and tax revenues are expected due to increases in income and payroll taxes.

Today, in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, No. 12-71, the Supreme Court held that the Arizona requirement for prospective voters to show proof of citizenship before using a registration form to vote in a federal election was unconstitutional.

The 84th Annual LULAC National Convention Kicks Off with Open Doors to LGBT Community

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) opened the doors at Caesars Palace for its 84th annual National Convention. This year’s theme, Lifting Our Voices Through Civic Participation, is expected to attract 20,000 attendees, and today’s focus was on civil rights for the LGBT community. At a joint press conference, LULAC and the Human Rights Campaign launched a co-branded report Growing up LGBT Latino in America to support family inclusion and anti-bullying that is available.
