LULAC to Host Free Immigration Clinic for Las Vegas Community in Partnership with the Coalition for Immigrant Freedom

Free onsite immigration legal consultations, citizenship drive, and Know-Your-Rights (KYR) trainings to be held at LULAC’s 2024 National Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada – The League of United Latin America Citizens (LULAC), the largest and oldest Latino civil rights organization in the U.S., announced it will host a free onsite immigration legal clinic, citizenship drive, and Know-Your-Rights (KYR) trainings at its 95th Annual National Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas, Nevada from June 26 – June 29, 2024. The immigration activations are presented in partnership with the Coalition for Immigrant Freedom, a legal services non-profit dedicated to educating, defending, and protecting the rights of all immigrants.

“We are proud to partner with our fellow civil rights advocates at the Coalition for Immigrant Freedom to offer important resources to the hardworking and vibrant immigrant communities in Las Vegas and beyond. As LULAC has been saying, we must advocate for the establishment of pathways to citizenship and temporary work visas for newcomers, as well as for the approximately 12 million immigrants already residing in the country who have been patiently awaiting resolution of their status,” said Domingo Garcia, LULAC National President.

Legal Clinic
Conference participants will have the opportunity to register for 20-minute, one-on-one legal consultations with immigration attorneys and DOJ-accredited paralegals and have questions answered on a range of immigration issues including:

  • Asylum
  • Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
  • Temporary Protection Status (TPS)
  • Citizenship eligibility and the Naturalization process
  • Adjustment of Legal Status and family-based petitions
Consultations can be conducted in Spanish or English.

Citizenship Drive
Convention participants who are eligible to apply for citizenship and have the required documents to complete an application will be able to register to receive N-400 application assistance (and I-912 fee waiver form if eligible). The N-400 will be reviewed and approved by an attorney who will finalize the application for submission. Services can be conducted in Spanish or English.

KYR Campaign Trainings
A general KYR campaign training will be held daily during Convention days. The goal of the training will be to outline basic legal rights as immigrants and dispel common immigration “myths”. The training will cover topics such as:

  • Rights in your home, workplace, and on the street
  • immigration Emergency plan readiness
  • U-Visa options for victims of assault and Domestic Violence immigration protection and the Violence Against Women Act
Individuals interested must register in advance.
