Captain Le Roy Torres

Co-Founder of Burn Pits 360 Group

Le Roy Torres

Captain Le Roy Torres served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 24 years, spending a year on duty in Balad, Iraq. During his deployment, Torres lived and worked near a burn pit, where everything from trash to medical waste was incinerated. These pits, some as large as 10 acres, burned continuously, filling the air—and the lungs of soldiers—with toxic chemicals and smoke.

As a result of this exposure, CPT Torres developed chronic lung and brain injuries, leading to over 400 hospital visits in a decade. To address these health issues for veterans, Torres and his wife founded Burn Pits 360. Their advocacy recently led to the passage of the PACT Act, expanding benefits for veterans affected by burn pit exposure
