What is LULAC Academy?
At the core of LULAC's mission lies the belief in the transformative potential of accessible education for all. Embedded within this convention, the LULAC Academy seeks to translate our organization's vast knowledge and values into a meaningful educational experience tailored for young Latinos.
Hosting 500 students aged 17 to 25, the Academy will offer a series of workshops alongside the convention's plenary sessions. This unique opportunity enables participants to delve into critical topics such as health, technology, education, politics, and business. Led by industry experts, these workshops will provide valuable insights and experiences that underscore the significance of Latinos and Latino identity in addressing persistent challenges and fostering innovative solutions.
Eligibility Criteria

- Be between the ages of 17 and 25 at the time of the Academy [June 26 to June 28, 2024].
- Be enrolled in a secondary institution (with a minimum age of 18 by June 26, 2024) or post-secondary institution (such as college, university, or graduate program) is required. Alternatively, recent graduates who completed their studies within 1 year prior to the June 2024 convention are also eligible.
- Be a member of a LULAC council or have plans to become one after the June 2024 convention; The applicant must demonstrate commitment and experience with initiatives aimed at engaging and empowering Latino communities.
- Previous recipients of LULAC scholarships are eligible for LULAC Academy scholarships

- All Applicants: Write an essay of 350 to 500 words detailing your personal and academic journey, emphasizing your interests, academic history, and career aspirations.
- Scholarship Application Essay [350 to 500 words]: Selecting a challenge within health, technology, artificial intelligence, education, politics, or business, how has your personal journey and identity shaped your approach to overcoming obstacles and pioneering innovative solutions in this specific area?

LULAC Academy Notifications
For applicants not seeking a scholarship or those applying for scholarships for the 2024 LULAC Academy, acceptance or denial notifications will be sent within 2-3 weeks of submission. Applications close when capacity is reached. For inquiries, please contact Priscilla Garcia at PGarcia@lulac.org.
Selection Process
LULAC assigns each application to volunteer reviewers. Reviewer scores, comments, eligibility criteria, and the priority criteria below are analyzed to allocate scholarships.
1st: Students who are LULAC members and exhibit a proven record of volunteerism, leadership, and community engagement.
2nd: Non-LULAC member students with volunteer experience addressing challenges within Latino communities.
3rd: All other eligible students.
