Alba Villa
Attorney, Immigrant Rights Advocate, and Chief Development Officer
Alba Lucero Villa is the Chief Development Officer of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the oldest and largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States. With a career spanning law, advocacy, and journalism, Alba has championed human and civil rights issues both nationally and internationally.
Prior to joining LULAC, she served as the Executive Director of the Coalition for Immigrant Freedom, also known as Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights, a legal services nonprofit dedicated to educating, defending, and protecting immigrant communities. Alba’s career also includes roles such as Executive Director of the Hispanic National Bar Foundation, and Director of the Latinx Rights Scholars Program at NYU Law, a Fellow at The Washington Post, the Inter- American Commission for Human Rights and LatinoJustice. Her human rights work began in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she advocated for children’s rights and reported on forced labor. Before entering the legal field, Alba was a journalist reporting on human trafficking, constitutional rights, and civil liberties at outlets including The Washington Post, TRIAL magazine, and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.
Alba holds a B.A. from Brown University, a J.D. from NYU School of Law, and an M.A. in Journalism from American University. She brings a deep commitment to equity, accountability, and community-driven solutions to her work.
