Aric Herrera

Aric Herrera is a Senior Biomedical Engineering major at Texas A&M University, hailing from San Antonio, Texas. He is deeply committed to being an exemplary leader and a passionate advocate for educational equity and servant leadership. With aspirations of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon, Aric embodies the mission of LULAC through his impactful work. He began his journey with LULAC in 2020, where he revitalized the San Antonio Youth Council #1124, leading community service initiatives such as Easter basket drives and promoting civic engagement.

At Texas A&M, Aric co-founded the university's LULAC council and has served as its President, securing a $5,000 grant from T-Mobile to launch the Conexiones STEM Mentorship Program at Rudder High School in Bryan, Texas. Under his leadership, the program established partnerships with Texas A&M's Departments of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Engineering, and the School of Medicine, positively impacting over 300 students since 2022.

Aric has also collaborated with key community leaders, including Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert, LULAC CEO Juan Proaño, Dr. Jose Luis Zelaya, the Hispanic Forum, the Texas A&M Hispanic Network, and prominent Texas A&M System leaders to expand the council’s mission and outreach. His work also includes creating city-wide service initiatives, organizing prospective student tours, and increasing council membership, which has grown to 50 members today. A visionary leader, Aric continues to inspire and empower others through his unwavering dedication to community service and education equity.
