Mark Colon
Director of Public Engagement for NTIA
Mark Colón serves as Director of Public Engagement for NTIA at the US Department of Commerce. In this capacity, Colón oversees a national campaign to engage industry leaders, trade associations and historically marginalized communities in the Biden Administration’s $65 Billion “Internet for All” initiative.
Colón brings more than twenty years of public & private sector experience to his new role. Most recently, he served as President of New York State’s Office of Housing Preservation, overseeing one of the largest and most diverse affordable housing portfolios in the country, with more than 400,000 units in 3,200 projects.
Colón has long been involved in Hispanic civic affairs, most recently helping to establish “Enlace Latino de Acción Climática,” a coalition of Puerto Rican community groups, academics and energy experts focused on the existential climate change issues facing the Island.
Colón graduated magna cum laude from CUNY/Hunter College and received his J.D. from the Yale Law School, where he served as Managing Editor of the Yale Law & Policy Review. He subsequently clerked for the Hon. Julio M. Fuentes, the first Hispanic justice in the history of the Third Circuit US Court of Appeals.
