Livier Lazaro
Veteran and VFW Commander Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7420
Retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant Livier “Livy” Lazaro serves on the National Subcommittee on Deported Veterans and is the Commander of VFW Post 7420. Livier served in the Army for 20 years as a medic, deploying to Iraq as a combat medic. Her leadership roles in the Army continue to guide her commitment to military service members and the community. She leads members in honoring all veterans, especially those whose stories of heroism are often untold or unacknowledged, such as Hispanic service members. Lazaro advocates for legislation and works to assist deported veterans.
As the Commander of VFW Post 7420 in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego, California, Lazaro was elected to her second term and is the first woman to hold the position in the post’s 67-year history. She has developed a repatriated veteran mentorship program to support individuals navigating life after deportation. The program helps ensure men and women receive the benefits they earned and feel supported by the veteran community.
