Sindy Marisol Benavides is Chief Executive Officer for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the oldest and largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the country. A Honduran American immigrant, Ms. Benavides has experienced the American dream, and now devotes her career to public service.
Ms. Benavides previously served as COO and National Director for Civic Engagement and Community Mobilization for LULAC, was Vice President of Field & Political Operations for Voto Latino, and Northern Virginia Political Director for the 2012 Kaine for Virginia senatorial campaign.
Ms. Benavides serves on numerous councils and boards including the External Diversity & Inclusion Council for Charter Communications, the Consumer Advisory Panel for AT&T, and the National Diversity Advisory Council for the American Red Cross. She is an alumna of the Sorenson Political Leadership Program through the University of Virginia, and the Virginia Executive Institute and Minority Political Leadership Institute through Virginia Commonwealth University. She received a certification in executive nonprofit management from the Harvard Kennedy School in 2009, has a B.A. in political science from Virginia State University and is completing her Master’s in international affairs from American University.
