Nina Valedon

Nina Dimarie Valedón Santiago received a bachelor's in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico, where she acted as Student Council President. Nina received her Juris Doctor cum laude from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico while focusing on a research assistantship on Administrative Law. Nina was the first Puerto Rican to obtain a Master of Public Affairs from Brown University. She served as a Municipal Legislator and was Deputy Majority Leader and Chair of the Committee on the Juridical and Regulations. She worked as an Advisor to the Mayor of Caguas and a Senatorial Legislative Advisor. Nina currently serves as Advisor of the President of the Senate. She testified before the United Nations Committee on Decolonization penned an Op-Ed, and is a news commentator on radio and tv stations in Puerto Rico. She serves as President of the Caguas Lions Club and is part of other non-profit and advocacy groups. She is dedicated to empowering women, Latinos, and communities at a socioeconomic disadvantage, strengthening government institutions, and advocating for human-centered policies and innovation.

This panel will focus on ways in which Latina’s can be empowered to enter the heavily male dominated space of tech. Specifically focusing on education programs that can provide a path into STEM and offer opportunities for Latina’s to build a network with other women in the field.
