Welcome Message from LULAC National CEO
Dear LULAC Members, Colleagues & Friends,
For more than 91 years, LULAC's founding purpose remains the same: to protect and defend Latinos across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
My warmest thank you for joining us in the middle of a pandemic when nothing feels or seems normal. With the theme, All for One & One for All: United in Action to Transform America, the LULAC Virtual Summit is bringing together top leaders in business, government, and civic sectors to discuss the issues affecting Latinos for a high-impact event reaching a vast and diverse audience.
We will discuss key issues including how Latinos can support the Black Lives Matter movement, the challenges facing our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico, our collective push for gender equity, access to quality health care, education amid COVID-19, the outlook for immigration reform, continuing the struggle for full LGBTQ rights, the role of financial literacy in empowering Latino and much more.
Featured guests include Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Tim Kaine, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Secretary of the U.S. Army Ryan McCarthy, Former HUD Secretary and Presidential Candidate Julián Castro, Representative Veronica Escobar, Representative Jimmy Gomez, Representative Darren Soto, NUL President and CEO Marc Morial, NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson, CEO and National Director of ADL Jonathan Greenblatt, and HRC CEO Alphonso David among others. What a powerful line-up!
As we look ahead, let’s remember our proud LULAC legacy for the next millennium. We celebrate that history and challenge ourselves to now set our sights on the future. Together, we will harness potential and ensure that our communities understand their power to organize and advocate to create change for a more equitable future. We lock arms in supporting Black Lives Matter, and continue to demand that our workers have access to free COVID-19 testing, treatment and protections in the workplace. As important, we seek justice for Vanessa Guillén and other military members and veterans who have experienced abuse or worse in the military.
Join us, get to know your fellow LULAC members virtually and map out your actions and plans as we approach Election Day. Our greatest weapon of civil disobedience is our vote and the best way to uplift our voices and community is by voting. Let us continue the LULAC spirit of service: “All for One, and One for all.”
Together We Rise,
Sindy M. Benavides
