Flor Martinez Zaragoza is an activist, influencer, and community advocate best known for her Instagram account, @flowerinspanish, where she has several hundred thousand followers. Growing up in San Martin, a small town near San Jose, Flor has long been aware of the stark contrast between her community and the wealthier, tech-driven areas of Silicon Valley. As an undocumented immigrant with DACA status, Flor spent her summers as a teenager working in the fields, picking grapes with her family, and witnessing the harsh realities faced by farmworkers, many of whom are undocumented. This experience has fueled her passion for advocating for the rights and dignity of the immigrant community.

In 2020, Flor began using social media to educate and raise awareness about the challenges faced by undocumented farmworkers, particularly during the devastating wildfires in Northern California. Her advocacy efforts have expanded to spotlighting immigrant-owned businesses and pushing for changes to California laws that would provide more support to undocumented workers. Flor also founded the nonprofit Celebration Nation, which provides food assistance to farmworkers and their families, addressing food insecurity in marginalized communities.

In addition to her advocacy work, Flor has organized several impactful rallies, including a large-scale protest in 2021 to demand better working conditions and protections for farmworkers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This rally drew hundreds of participants and sparked local media coverage, bringing attention to the issues of farmworker safety, healthcare access, and immigrant rights. She also led a march in 2022 calling for expanded protections for immigrant-owned businesses in Silicon Valley, urging lawmakers to enact policies that provide legal and economic support for small, immigrant-led enterprises. Flor’s efforts in organizing these rallies have been crucial in amplifying the voices of those who often go unheard, focusing on the intersection of immigrant rights, social justice, and community empowerment.
