Belen B. Robles, a current board member, is serving her 6 year 2nd term at EPCC. She is celebrated at El Paso Community College due to the unique contributions she continues to make as an active community member. Mrs. Robles made history as she was the first woman President of LULAC, the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights Hispanic organization. Her election as President of LULAC also made her the 1st woman to lead a national Hispanic Organization. She is currently celebrating her 62nd year as a member of LULAC and is an active member of the LULAC National Board. In her 41 years of service with Immigration and Naturalization Service and with U.S. Customs which covered West Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. Her role spanned various impressive management positions where she broke barriers becoming the 1st female in roles as Chief Inspector for Cargo Operations, Chief Inspector for Enforcement, Chief Inspector Bridge of the Americas, and El Paso International Airport and Foreign Trade Zone. Her last barrier breaking at U S Customs was becoming the 1st female Acting Assistant Deputy District Director for Inspection and Control where she was responsible for a 45 million budget which included procurement of contracts, equipment, and personnel administration. She continues to serve on numerous local and national positions, and plays an active role in the corridors of power to ensure that the culture, history and economic conditions of Hispanics and El Paso are not overlooked
