LULAC Announces Fundraiser for Families of Victims of Uvalde, Texas, School Shooting

Nation’s Largest and Oldest Latino Civil Rights Organization Encourages Americans to Lend a Helping Hand to the Families of Victims and Survivors

Washington, DC – The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) needs your help in supporting the families of the victims and survivors of the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting. As the largest and oldest grassroots civil rights organization, LULAC is called to assist and support the community of Uvalde, where 90 percent of the students of Robb Elementary School identify as Hispanic and more than four-fifths are economically disadvantaged.

LULAC established a fund to help the families of the victims and survivors of the Uvalde school shooting. As a 501c3, 100% of the contributions are charitable and will go directly to the families. At times of unimaginable pain, LULAC has been present to financially support communities through past tragedies like this and natural disasters.

Sindy Benavides, CEO of LULAC Institute:
“As a mother, my heart aches for the parents of Uvalde, who did not know that when they sent their children to school on May 25th, it would be the last time they would ever hug them goodbye. We grieve this senseless loss of life in Uvalde– and all of the senseless murders by gun violence across the country– but we also grieve for the lack of action by policymakers to provide safety for our children. This year alone, 134 children (ages 0-11) have been killed by gun violence in the United States.

As Americans, we cannot just standby and not do something that will make a difference to those families who lost their children or whose children are injured both physically and emotionally.

While we can’t be there to offer hugs and condolences to families in person, we CAN do something to meet their needs. In light of this tragic event, as LULAC familia, we ask you to help us raise funds to alleviate the stress, including financial, facing many families in the Uvalde community.”

As LULAC, and most importantly, as members of the Latino community, we ask you to stand with our hurting sisters and brothers and lend a helping hand. No donation is too small, and every dollar collected will be sent directly to the victim’s families to cover any needs they might have.

Join us and donate today to #LULACHelps: Uvalde Victims Fund and let the Uvalde families and community know that you are with them and that we, as a nation, care. 100% of the donations go directly to assist the families of the victims and survivors. Donate here.
