LULAC Hosted its Annual National Women's Conference in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico

April 7, 2015

Santa Ana Pueblo, NM – With the theme, “Leadership, Opportunity, Education and Family: Celebrating the Latina Spirit,” this year’s women’s conference was attended by more than 400 people and included workshops on domestic violence, child abuse, entrepreneurship, running for public office and other issues that directly impact women’s lives.

The educational attainment of women ages 25 to 64 in the labor force has risen substantially over the past 20 years. In 2012, 38 percent of this group held college degrees, compared with 25 percent in 1992. However, there are still critical leadership roles where women are underrepresented, such as in the corporate sector. Today, women make up only 5% of CEOs and 17% of the corporate board members among Fortune 500 companies. The mission of the LULAC National Women’s Conference is to engage women from across the country and ensure they have the necessary tools in order to become effective leaders.

LULAC is grateful to our sponsors for making this event possible, and their generous support that helped to make the 2015 Women’s Conference a rousing success. This year’s sponsors included Diamond Sponsor The Coca-Cola Company; Emerald Sponsors Ford Motor Company Fund and Southwest Airlines; Pearl Sponsors Denny’s, Tyson Foods, iHeart Media, Master Your Card Oportunidad, Walgreens, and Walmart; Sapphire Sponsors United Airlines; and Partner MillerCoors.
