LULAC Celebrates 90 Years of Advocacy
Honoring Solution Leaders that Improve and Advances the Lives of Latinos
Washington, DC - This week’s 2019 State of Latinx America Summit and National Legislative Awards Gala in Washington, DC marks the start of one of the most important milestones in the history of the League of Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization, achieving nine decades of advocacy. The Gala is a ticketed event and will take place tonight at the Marriott Marquis from 6:00 p.m. – 9 p.m.

- National Trailblazer Award: Congressman Ben Ray Lujan
- Freedom and Justice Award: Alejandro Rangel- Lopez
- National Arriba Con Ganas Award: Rep. Jesus Garcia
- Profile in Courage Award: Jim Acosta
- Cultural Tribute to Puerto Rico- Mayor of Ponce, Hon. Maria E. Melendez Altier
- Gala Host: Teresa Rodriguez, Emmy Award-Winning Journalist and Co-Anchor of Univision’s News Magazine “Aqui y Ahora”
Since its founding in 1929 in South Texas, LULAC has reached out to elected leaders in a non-partisan spirit to create bridges, open dialogue and seek solutions that improve and advance the lives of Latinos in the United States.
