Resolution in Support of Charter Schools

WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens is this nation’s oldest and largest Latino organization, founded in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 17, 1929; and

WHEREAS, LULAC throughout its history has committed itself to the principles that Latinos have equal access to opportunities in employment, education, housing and healthcare; and

WHEREAS, the League of United Latin Americans Citizens agrees every child deserves a quality education at all levels in every State;

WHEREAS, charter schools provide a personalized approach to education including smaller classrooms, innovative teaching methods, and parent involvement; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the League of United Latin American Citizens supports Charter Schools for the resources and quality of education it brings to Latino communities;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the League of United Latin American Citizens agrees to collaborate with educational institutions of higher learning including charter schools to improve quality education for the Latino community.
